Claudia and Nick were married May 16, 2015, in Long Branch, New Jersey at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa. They chose to have a destination wedding along the Jersey Shore.

Geri and I enjoy photographing destination weddings for discriminating clients. In this case, the bride’s father and I were classmates in journalism school at Wichita State University. Perry, was a great source of inspiration during our college days. Perry recounted a story about how he and another student asked me what I was working on late one night in the darkroom, and I said, “just working on my portfolio.” He and Larry have been laughing about that comment for years – and I’m still working on my portfolio!

The morning of the wedding I photographed Claudia having her hair and makeup done at arje The Salon where the owner, Rocoo Zoppi, acted as her personal stylist. Geri spent the morning with Nick, who spent some time learning how to tie his necktie via You Tube, and also get his son, Luke, dressed for the wedding.

Claudia and Nick decided to do a ‘reveal’ and see each other before their ceremony, so they could have family history pictures made ahead of time, allowing them to go straight from the ceremony to the cocktail reception.

After dinner we took the happy couple for a stroll along the boardwalk at twilight for a few romantic scene-setting photos.

Thank you Claudia, Nick, and Perry for inviting us out to experience the Jersey Shore, which we’d heard so much about!

Katie and Jake decided to test me on their engagement photo session by bringing their three dogs, or fur babies as they refer to them a long to Three Sisters Park near Evergreen. The reason for the test is because all three dogs are going to be in their wedding ceremony at Piney Mountain Lake Lodge near Vail in September. The dogs and I pasted the test with flying colors.

Malia and Bryson are both avid snowboarders and wanted to do their engagement pictures at Keystone Mountain Resort. It was an early spring day, with blue sky and a hint of clouds. We covered some ground, or should I say, traversed most of the mountain to get to their favorite places, which included hiking up a ridge above timberline. After our ski outing, they quickly changed clothes for pictures around Keystone Village and along the river.
