Alyssa Walker and Charlie Foster were married at Wild Basin Lodge in Allens Park, Colorado September 17, 2011.
You never know what to expect the weather to be at a Colorado destination mountain wedding! One rule about Colorado weather is that if you don’t like it, wait 15 minutes. Alyssa and Charlie’s wedding was close to being rained out and moved inside. They gave up on having their ceremony in the meadow about a half mile walk from the lodge and instead optioned for the Wedding Deck next to the lodge.
It was a good call as the rain picked up during their ceremony but it couldn’t wipe the smile off Alyssa’s face and I’m pretty sure it was tears running down Charlie’s face as they exchanged vows.
About a half hour after their ceremony, the rain stopped and we were able to wander around the grounds for a fun portrait session including down to the meadow where we had the pasting storm clouds blowing past Mount Meeker and Longs Peak in the back ground.
Congratulations to Alyssa and Charlie!
Cheers, Kent

Happy 4th of July! This was the first weekend I haven’t had a wedding to photograph since April! I made the most out of it going ski mountaineering climbing Coon Hill at 12,757 feet elevation. We were able to skin up to the summit as well as ski down along a cornice ridge passing a herd of mountain goats on Friday. Sat, we went for a 28 mile bike ride that included Lookout Mountain and Mother Cabrini Shrine. Sunday we watch the Tour de France, the men’s final of the Wimbledon, and fireworks with the Colorado Symphony in Civic Center Park with about 25,000 of our closest friends. Today we broke out our new Big Green Egg, grill/smoker, to cook baby back ribs.
Cheers to a free world, Kent

Kelly and Jake were married June 4, 2011 at Ten Mile Station in the middle of Breckenridge Ski Area.
You might remember Kelly and Jake from their engagement/lifestyle photo session we did last Oct. where we started at the top of Loveland Pass on a rather winterly day. In any case these two are troopers and love the Rocky Mountains. They picked Ten Mile Station in the middle of the Breckenridge ski area for their wedding and reception. Early June at 11,000 elevation definitely isn’t summertime and with the huge snow pack still melting, I was hoping for a sunny warm Colorado blue sky day. As it turned out the weather couldn’t have been better.
Their ceremony was held on the deck outside this ski in ski out mountain restaurant, during the winter and their reception was held inside as the temperatures dropped quickly once the sun went down.
Cheers, Kent

Click here to see a short slideshow. Our annual 10th Mountain Division hut trip was last weekend. This year we went to Vance’s Cabin near Leadville, Colorado. The trail-head starts in the parking lot at Ski Cooper. I wasn’t able join the group on Friday because of an assignment in Denver so I headed up...
