Yesterday I combined three of my favorite things Weddings, Skiing and Valentine’s Day! Loveland Ski Area hosted their 20th Annual Marry Me & Ski Free Mountaintop Matrimony with 69 couples getting married or renewing their vows at 12,050′ elevation near the Continental Divide at Ptarmigan Roost Cabin.

Dancers perform in the street near The Packing House Center for the Arts.

Saturday I photographed a dance performance created by Lauren Simpson, the daughter of one of our neighbors . Also, Lauren’s step sister, Ellie, 9, performed in “the sister piece”. The program was designed and planned to be performed around Valentine’s Day, with love as the common thread.

The program began by asking the audience to go outside The Packing House Center for the Arts in north Denver. Then the dancers came out dressed as brides and groomsmen, piled into a car, drove down the street and danced their way back.

The building is a former meat packing plant near the stockyards and it’s still in an industrial neighborhood. Lauren used the neighborhood as the back drop pushing both the dancers and the audience to connect with the location, such as biker’s private club, below the art center.
