Jami and Nick were married November 12, 2011 at The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Beaver Creek Mountain.

Their story began years ago at Jami’s first wedding to Joe Kennedy, when Nick was a groomsman. Joe and Nick were both professional left-handed pitchers playing Major League Baseball. Life was good. Jami and Joe then had a son who they named Kaige and were living in Boulder, Colorado, while Joe played for the Toronto Blue Jays.

On November 23, 2007, Joe was in Florida to be the best man at the wedding of a friend when he woke up in the middle of the night, collapsed, and was pronounced dead of a fatal arrhythmia. Jami was pregnant with their second child, a baby girl named Joie, who would become Joe’s name sake.

Almost four years later, Jami and Nick were married in a candle light ceremony that was as much about Jami and her children, as it was about the couple.

Kaige was the best man and ring bearer and Joie was the maid of honor and flower girl.

While getting ready for her wedding, Jami teared up while tying a pendant with the initials “JDK” onto her bouquet. While Nick and his father shared a toast to Joe using the flask that he was given as a present for being Joe’s best man. Meanwhile the kids were playing with gifts personally delivered to them from Todd Helton, Colorado Rockies first baseman, who is known to them as “Uncle Todd”.

Even with all of the emotion and intensity, everyone came to this Colorado mountain destination wedding with open hearts.

The team from Alexan Events planned, designed and coordinated every detail including bathing the ceremony and the reception rooms in fushia lighting, creating a warm, intimate feel that almost had a New Year’s Eve party atmosphere. They also distributed cool hats, feather boas and other party favors.

The band Phat Daddy kept the party rocking until midnight.

XO Booth was a big hit with their photo booth.

My good friend Steve Peterson was a huge help documenting the entire day with me.

I often get asked if I’m working on any personal photography projects, and with a straight face I usually respond with, “my life ” – it’s the only long term project that I’m currently working on.

I also get asked about my favorite camera. Again with a straight face I say, “the one in my hand at any given moment.”

Documenting my own life, friends, family and pets sounds easy, but all too often the only time we take out a camera is for the trips to Italy, New York, or to cover weddings.

Now with camera phones, point and shoot cameras and SLR’s, it’s not only easy to capture real pictures, but fun to get everyone involved. The pictures on this blog post were taken over a long weekend in San Francisco, celebrating the birthday of my longtime friend, Gregg. We’ve been friends since I started college and photography has always been a common thread in our lives.

Wandering around San Francisco with cameras in hand was a blast. It gave us an excuse to simply slowdown and play around with people, animals and places, creating memories of the little moments that really make up our lives.

Megan Goldin and Rob Morrison were married October 9, 2011 at The Wild Basin Lodge in Allenspark, Colorado.

Bojie and Rigsby, both Newfoundlands, are the center of Megan and Rob’s lives. Megan had Bojie when she met Rob and he knew if Bojie didn’t like him there was zero chance. Their first meeting, they French kissed, and both Rob and Bojie were hooked on one another ever since. They got Rigsby together – his official name is Bee Creeks state of the union because Megan always promised herself that before she married someone, she had to have a puppy with them first. They knew if they couldn’t make it through raising a puppy together- they couldn’t make it through a marriage and raising children together;) he passed his “test” the first night they brought Riggs home and Rob got up with him at 3am when he was crying and took him out.

The dogs which resemble black bears played a big part in the wedding ceremony. Bojie pulled a cart up the wedding aisle with the actual wedding rings riding attached to a pillow and escorted by Rigsby.

Megan and Rob picked a perfect fall day for their wedding in the mountains near Estes Park. The trees were wearing there fall colors and there was a fresh coat of snow covering Longs Peak.

Father Martin Hunckler, a retired Denver area priest, performed the service with a wonderful sense of humor keeping the ceremony serious but light enough for a few belly laughs.

Brigitte Ohler owner of Floral Design of Europe in Estes Park did an amazing job decorating the wedding arch for the ceremony with locally gathered fall leafs and matching flowers. She also made Megan’s bouquet and decorated the lodge for the reception.

Dave Kreider, Beggar’s Tunes DJ Service, provided great sound for the ceremony and the reception. He had the dance floor hopping with  special songs such as Bruce Springsteen’s “Jersey Girl” for Megan who is from New Jersey.

Shannon Curtis and Greg Rood were married at Arrowhead Golf Course in Littleton, Colorado on October 8, 2011.

The morning or their wedding it snowed and looked like the ceremony might get moved inside. Luckily they had a late afternoon ceremony and just as I arrived the sun broke out and the folks at Arrowhead began shoveling the snow off the grass.

The highlight of the ceremony, at least for me, was when Shannon and Greg read their vows which were verses from Cat in The Hat by Dr. Seuss.

Another unusual thing about their wedding was that there were more red heads there than I’ve ever seen at a wedding. I blending as if I was a family member!

After the ceremony we drove golf carts down to the lake at the 18th hole tee box for a fun photo session with the beautiful red rock formations at sunset.

Their reception was held in the dinning room of the club house with picture window views of the surrounding landscape.

Tania Dibbs and Bruce Etkin were married September 24, 2011 at The Lodge & Spa at Brush Creek Ranch near Saratoga, Wyoming.

Carolyn Moorman of Artisan Events helped plan and produce their wedding weekend at the ranch.

Jesse Ketter with Design Works and her crew from Denver designed all the floral and table arrangements for both the ceremony and the reception.

Guest activities included horseback riding, fly fishing, mountain biking, hiking, yoga, zip-lines, a rope course and a shooting range.

Their ceremony was held in the Japanese Wedding Garden at the ranch where Japanese Americans were held during World War II. The internees built the original gardens which were restored after Bruce White and his wife Beth, bought the 13,000 acre ranch in 2008.

This luxury ranch is located between Saratoga, which has an airport large enough to handle private jets,  and the Medicine Bow National Forest, with its spectacular landscape.  Many of the wedding guests flew directly into Saratoga from Aspen, Colorado where Bruce and Tania live. Rabbi David Segal and his wife Cantor Rollin Simmons of the Aspen Jewish Congregation flew in and out just for the wedding ceremony.

The Rabbi got a good laugh when he announced something like, “It took no less than a miracle for these two separate individuals to enter this chuppah” as Tania is an artist and Bruce is a businessman.

After the ceremony Tania, Bruce, and his three children rode off into the sunset in a horse drawn carriage.

Their reception was held in a tent next to the Trailhead Lodge & Spa on the property and lasted until midnight, when Bruce and Tania were held up in chairs for their Hora or chair dance.

Mary Conboy and Scott Fillery were married September 19, 2011 at The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado.

We started their wedding off by Scott and me driving up into Rocky Mountain National Park to Horseshoe Park ahead of Mary as they chose to see each other all dressed up before their wedding and have a sneak peak photo session in the park.

Scott is from Australia and Mary is from Connecticut. Broomfield, Colorado is now their home and they wanted to have a mountain destination wedding to show their families and friends what a beautiful state they live in.

Jay Kacik of Standing Room Only DJ provided sound for the ceremony that was held in front of the Stanley Hotel. As well as sound and music in the Music Room for their reception.
