Katie and Revan were married October 18, 2014, at The Broadmoor. Their ceremony was held at the Lakeside Terrace, followed by cocktails in the Pompeii Room, with a dinner reception in the Lakeside Terrace Dining Room.
My good friends Sean and Cathy Cayton, of Cayton Photography hired me to help them document the day, for the most part from the groom’s perspective.
Both Katie and Revan are art directors with a Dallas-based advertising agency. They had their own staff video team covering the glamorous event, which also included 26 members of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic orchestra. One of the songs performed was written by Revan’s mother who had passed away from cancer a year before the wedding – creating a powerful and emotional tribute.
Music played a major theme throughout the wedding day. The Grove Merchants from the Phoenix/Scottsdale-area played for both the cocktail hour and the reception. A couple of studio musicians who work with Katie and Revan’s agency joined in on guitars and vocals for a few numbers, that had everyone in the room mesmerized. The ceremony ended with a bagpipe band lead by Sam Swancutt.
It was my pleasure to cover a destination wedding at a world-class hotel, with every detail carefully thought out.
