Rachel and Ben’s Vail, Colorado Wedding

The parasols that were handed out for the ceremony made for a nice portrait at sunset.

The yellow parasols provided for the ceremony, worked great for a portrait at sunset.

Last Sunday, I had the great pleasure of documenting Rachel and Ben’s wedding in Vail, Colorado. The ceremony was held at Betty Ford Alpine Gardens and the reception was at the Donovan Pavilion.

Geri, my wife, and Rachel have been friends for several years. They used to work together at the Denver Newspaper Agency before Rachel moved back to New York to work for her family’s paper, The New York Times.

Rachel had always dreamed of having a destination mountain wedding surrounded by family and friends. Wedding planner, Heather Allen of Table 6 Productions, helped to make Rachel’s dream a reality.

Kori Schell, a hair stylist and makeup artist from Denver drove up to Vail to do up all the ladies for Rachel’s wedding.

Cindy Ollig, owner of  The Perfect Petal in Denver, hit the ball out of the park with her floral designs. Yellow and blue were the colors of the day and she used sunflowers and yellow dahlias to decorate both the ceremony site and the reception. Rachel’s bouquet was made of yellow calla lilies and white hybrid orchids.

Murray Englander of A Custom Look Photography operated a photo booth, that was a big hit. The black-and-white print strips were pasted to a page in the guest book, where friends and family were invited to add a written message to the bride and groom.

My good friend, John Hudetz helped me photograph the wedding, and as expected, made some of the best pictures of the day!

Denver band “Funkiphino” rocked the Donovan Pavilion until midnight, when it was time to call it a wonderful day.

Wonderful job as usual. I love #1. I really like the one of the groom and the groomsmen laughing. I love the decorations at the Donovan! I just shot a wedding there, and I didn’t even recognize it!
