When I met Stephanie and Dan in Vail last winter for their engagement photo session, it was obvious that they were truly happy together. From the first pictures along Gore Creek, they were smiling and laughing. On their wedding day, they were both relaxed and after having a First Look, they were on Cloud Nine smiling from ear-to-ear.
They were looking forward to riding Gondola one in Vail Village to take bridal party pictures on the mountain top, with Gore Range in the background. With thunder storms in the forecast, it became a game-time decision. It turned out to be a good call, as the weather not only held for the adventure up the mountain, but also for the ceremony on the lawn at Larkspur. Another brilliant move was to have Otto, Stephanie and Dan’s dog in the wedding party to keep the flower girl and ring-bearers in line and happy.
Officiant, Tara van Dernoot, of Vail Area Weddings, made my day when she quietly mention to me that she would step aside during the kiss at the end of the ceremony, so I could move in and capture the moment from the best spot on the lawn.
Just as the cocktail party on the pool deck at the Four Seasons was about to end, a rain storm pushed everyone inside for the start of the reception. The ballroom was beautifully decorated with each table named after a ski run on Vail Mountain, such as Whipper Snapper, Whiskey Jack, Lover’s Leap, and of course Cloud Nine, for the Stephanie, Dan and their families.
Pam of Sapphire Celebrations guided all the vendors like a symphony conductor, keeping them engaged from early morning to nearly midnight.
