Aspen-Ashcroft Wedding

This was a wedding that I’d looked forward to for almost an entire year! Not only because Aspen and Ashcroft are beautiful locations, but Paige and Justin are an incredibly nice and kind couple.

Last September when the fall colors had peaked, we took their engagement photos at the Maroon Bells which is one valley over from Ashcroft.

On the day of the wedding, we met early in the morning at the St. Regis Aspen where the wedding parties and families were preparing for the 11AM ceremony.

Windy Gillespie of Events by Windy kept everyone on schedule, moving from one location to another. Windy personally delivered Paige’s bouquet and Justin’s boutoneer a few minutes after their first look on the steps of the old hotel in Ashcroft, a historical silver mining ghost town 10 miles south of Aspen along Castle Creek.

Across the road is the Pine Creek Cookhouse, an Aspen legend known for gourmet cuisine and a panoramic view of Castle Peak at 14,018 feet, and the Elk Mountain Range.

The Smuggler Mountain Boys, an Aspen bluegrass band, played a medley of tunes as guests wandered toward the ceremony meadow and continued performing as the wedding party and families arrived, under blue skies mixed with puffy clouds.

Ashley Krest, Florist/Farmer, with Field Florals tastefully decorated both the ceremony site and the reception venue with her home-grown flowers.

Rev. Jill Pidcock officiated the ceremony which included the planting of an aspen tree.

A luncheon reception followed with great food, more music, dancing, toasts, and a  fantastic wedding cake made by Aleece Gallagher, the executive pastry chef at the Hotel Jerome.

The party ended with Paige and Justin running out past their families and friends, waving as they got into a vintage 1934 Pontiac T-8, four-door sedan driven by Jeffrey Liddington owner of CTS.

Special thanks to my friend and guest photographer, Steve Peterson for helping me document “The Best Day Ever”.

Cheers, Kent
