Jaime and Gil were married at Aspen Canyon Ranch on June 10, 2013.
The ranch is out in the middle-of-nowhere between Breckenridge and Steamboat, which was exactly what Jaime and Gil asked for from their wedding planner Dina, with Pedal and Bean , who helped them plan their elopement-style wedding. Dina also provided the flowers that just happened to match the seasonal wild flowers in bloom.
This might have been the smallest wedding I’ve ever photographed. Jaime, Gil, Allen, their best man; Leon Littlebird, their officiant; and I rode horseback for about 45 minutes to a nice spot with a view overlooking the valley. Leon performed a heartfelt Native American ceremony, and accompanied his liturgy with several songs on his flute, before we headed back down to the ranch.
The real story behind this wedding tale begins ten years ago when the couple first met in the United States Marine Corps. Jaime then went on to become a California State Highway Patrol Trooper last year, and Gil graduated from the Colorado State Highway Patrol the week before their wedding. Allen, their best man, was a buddy from the USMC.
All their friends want them to apply to be on the Amazing Race and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were not only selected to participate – but win the race around the world!
