Lauren and Mimi’s same-sex Jewish destination Colorado mountain wedding near Vail Colorado was intimate and full of Jewish traditions.

Katie and Rocky were married at Piney River Ranch near Vail, Colorado on September 19, 2015. You might remember these two and their three fur babies from their engagement session last spring. Weddings that include dogs or other animals such as horses, Lama’s, birds etc. seem to attract me! Then when you add on, camping […]
Megan and Chad were married on the Vail Wedding Deck June 26, 2015, by Rabbi Baskin in a classic Jewish wedding ceremony, which included a chuppah with support posts made from Aspen trees, and beautiful flower arrangements from Vintage Magnolia. The couple met in the singles line of the Born Free Express Lift while skiing at Vail.
Kona, their dog, played a big part in the wedding ceremony. She was so well-behaved that she didn’t need to be on a leash at the hotel, in Vail Village, on the lift, or at the top of the mountain. Everyone at the Arrabelle where Megan prepared for the wedding, and also where the Ketubah signing took place, loved having Kona in residence.
After their mountaintop ceremony, the happy couple took a pedicab ride to the Donovan Pavilion for the reception. The dancing started after a wonderful dinner catered by The Gourmet Cowboy. First the couple danced, followed by dancing with parents, then came the Horah, a traditional Jewish wedding dance where two people seated in chairs, are hoisted into the air by the wedding guests. It began with Megan and Chad, followed by each set of parents and then grandparents. Later Megan performed a Polish bridal dance where she donned a head scarf and danced with almost everyone at the wedding – one at a time.
My good friend Bill Holland, joined me as guest photographer and contributed some great images.
Sarah Biggs with The Gourmet Cowboy helped them plan and pull off their wedding in great style.
Courtney Mirablie with Vail Resorts did a good job of getting everyone up and down the mountain including Kona without a single hitch.
Mindy McNitt with the Donovan Pavilion kept everything together during their reception.
Thank you Megan & Chad for allowing me to photograph your wedding, and please let me know if you ever need a dog sitter for Kona.
