Jenna and Dave’s Vail Mountain Top Wedding

Congratulations to Jenna and Dave who were married September 18th on the Wedding Deck at the top of Vail Mountain.

You might remember them from their engagement photo session last summer: Jenna surprised Dave with the puppy-of- his-dreams, a Siberian Husky named Trigly.

Flash forward to last Friday in Vail. The day started out sunny and warm before an afternoon storm blew in and put their mountain top wedding in jeopardy. It hailed and rained in town and the gondola couldn’t run because of the threat of lightning!

After an hour of nervous waiting, the weather cleared enough to run the gondola and everyone took the nine-minute ride to the top, where we were greeted with 30-40 mile-an-hour winds. It was then that I realized how tough not only Jenna and Dave were, but also their friends and family members.

The ceremony went off without a hitch, in fact it was perfect: with the light streaming in from the west, the heartfelt emotions and the added weather elements, all created a memorable late afternoon.

Afterward, we had just enough time to do a few pictures before another storm rolled in. Jenna and Dave planned to open a bottle of champagne, shake it up and spray it on top of the mountain. It made one of my favorite pictures of the day.

Back in Vail at The Arrabelle At Vail Square, Jenna and Dave, got on their tandem bicycle to ride to the reception at the Donovan Pavilion; not an easy thing to do in a wedding dress.

At the reception everyone was warmed up and ready to party when the happy couple arrived. Guests rang white and purple cow bells to cheer them on.
